About Us

Who We Are & What We Do:

We are a non-profit organization that works with citizens, organizations, institutions, government and businesses to advance environmental sustainability, improve the water quality in the Lake Ontario Basin, and address under-attended priority issues affecting environmental quality in Upstate New York by:

• Educating interested parties to increase their understanding and appreciation of the issues;
• Collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to define problems and develop solutions; and
• Facilitating the implementation of various initiatives/projects that the collaborations support.

To advance environmental sustainability we plan to provide:

1. Education and awareness on green technologies and practices;
2. Information on successful applications of technologies and best practices; and
3. Connections between upstate suppliers of green services and products, and those who are interested in implementing sustainability initiatives.

To improve water quality in the Lake Ontario Basin we plan to:

1. Provide education and awareness to coastline stakeholders to promote better understanding and appreciation of the issues facing the Lake Ontario Basin in order to encourage greater public participation, individual responsibility, and action for protecting these resources;
2. Improve the capability of local communities to understand and document their individual contributions to coastal water quality impairment and how to fix it;
3. Conduct research to better understand the extent and nature of those impairments to ensure remediation is done in a cost-effective manner; and
4. Obtain funding to help those communities implement the most effective capital projects and best practices.

To address priority issues affecting environmental quality we plan to:

1. Facilitate collaborations among multiple stakeholders where environmental quality issues can be identified, understood, and prioritized;
2. Coordinate the implementation of priority projects in partnership with interested parties; and
3. Provide outreach and education to increase awareness of issues by a variety of stakeholders.
